Hello everyone,
I know it has been a while since my last post, and I hope to post more frequently in the future. I am still working on learning some more synthesizers, but I took some time off to secure some more support and marketing for my diet book and I also set up the distribution work and content for my Amazon selling business!
Additionally, I have recently had a bit of an interest in K-POP and J-POP, so I have been paying attention and analyzing these songs in my free time and I started to get a feel for the flow and structure of the genre and the instruments used. I also didn't know that American write a vast many of the mainstream K-POP hits, and I decided I would like to be one of those people someday and I would like to work toward that as one of my goals. I would really like to hear one of my creations being played on the radio sometime, so I set out trying to write my own song. As always, I tried to make things a little challenging for me so I chose the key of B Minor and included a key change in the song. Moreover, I used a bit a a complex rhythm and just a dash of polyrhythm to make things more interesting and to force me to learn more about affecting drums and using the drum machine properly... reversing the laying samples too... and creating my own drum sounds from scratch. I believe this sort of work is very beneficial in the long run. I uploaded an unfinished portion of my demo to this website. Please check it out in the music section (as always). I also made a vocal cover. I developed a whole 80s style vocal chain from scratch and perhaps I'll publish some more detail about it sometime. Essentially, I have some compression, EQ and so on... with busses going to a chorus and parallel compression and of course rich plate reverb at about 4.5 secs. with a slight high pass. I additionally did a two-tier layered delay with a pitch shifted ping pong orientation just like they did during the 80s. I recorded everything in only two takes due to some setup problems at the studio and consequently limited time. There is no pitch correction, but there is some timing trouble due to the limited takes, but I was able to edit and adjust most of it and even extend a held note (not perfectly, but seamlessly enough considering the limited amount of time I spent editing... it was good enough for me, for now). About the song: One of my friends said my voice might fit Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence, so I thought I'd make a vocal cover of it. It uses the original BGM and the backing vocals, but the lead voice is mine and was recorded and edited totally by me again after only two takes at the recording studio. I have uploaded it to the music section of the website. Although I'm not trying to get a lot of views, if you'd be so kind, please visit my YouTube page (link at bottom) and give it a like and subscribe although the one on my site should be a little bit better quality due to the YouTube algorithm.
Thank you for reading.
Till next time,
SCOPS
